On this site you will find a variety of art projects created by multimedia artist, Jacalyn Lopez Garcia. Information posted on this site will become the source of inspiration for Jacalyn's media installation that will be presented at the Women's Caucus for the Arts exhibition in San Francisco on Nov 4, 2011 at the SOMArts Cultural Center. This exhibition will feature women artists across the U.S. presenting art on the theme "Man As Object: Reversing the Gaze" and is scheduled to tour in 2012 to the Kinsey Institutue Gallery (the Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction).
Jacalyn's goal is to challenge her audience to think in unconventional ways with regard to "what art is" or "what art can be." These projects are intended to explore new possibilities for the gaze and they are further intended to examine contemporary themes about what shapes women's sexual identities and fantasies. Audience participation on the blogs is vital to the success of the projects and everyone is encouraged to contribute in an effort to empower the voice of women.
